Manual assignment relies on whoever's dispatching remembering everyone's skill level, and mistakes only surface after the job goes wrong. Every technician in BayLineup has a Lead, Assist, or No rating per duty, and a job is only ever recommended for someone actually approved to do it — enforced independently on the server, not just shown on screen.

We can't tell why a job went to one tech instead of the top recommendation.

Accepted Answer

When a dispatcher overrides the obvious choice, that reasoning usually lives in someone's memory, if anywhere. Skipping the top recommendation in BayLineup requires recording why — unavailable, supervisor choice, training, customer priority, workload balance, or another reason — and both the recommendation and the actual assignment are kept, so acceptance can be reviewed later instead of argued about from memory.

Two people edited the same job and one of them lost their changes.

Accepted Answer

Plenty of shop software just overwrites whoever saved last, silently, and nobody finds out until the job data doesn't match what happened. If someone else changed a job before your save lands, BayLineup reloads the latest saved state and asks you to review it — instead of silently overwriting their work.

Demo environments and empty new accounts sometimes ship with fake sample trends that make a product look more mature than it is. BayLineup draws no fabricated trend charts — if there isn't enough shop history yet for a 6, 12, or 24-month view, it says so instead of drawing a line that isn't backed by real completions.

A shared monitor is, by definition, shared, and software that puts full names, wages, or HR details on that screen creates a privacy problem nobody asked for. It's an easy step to skip when a bay is busy, and then the next shop visit inherits a windshield sticker that's wrong. BayLineup requires the next service date and mileage from the sticker to be recorded before an oil job can move to Ready — the system won't let the job complete without it.
